currently.

Currently.
- a little ticked that my nails are chipping. i just painted them the other night. this makes me want to run out and get a "real" manicure. does anyone have tips for making your nail color last longer? help a sister out.
- wishing i was still in the bed. i certainly did not want to get up this morning.
-loving the new ring my bestie bought me. we had some good catch up time over mexican food the other night and i am missing her already.
-ready for another weekend to be here. i enjoyed my time last weekend with Andy and can't wait to see what this one brings. (other than NASCAR)

-laughing my head off at this throwback Thursday photo. yes, i used to get dressed up randomly and go to the grocery store. yes, i did this for no reason. don't judge me now.

Crock-Pot Wednesday

it's back and back with a vengeance   the following are crock-pot recipes that i have tried recently and didn't take the time to post about. i have followed them with a short review about each (good and bad).

3 Packet Pot Roast
this was awful, extremely peppery. i think that it would have been much better had i added a good deal more water, but in the end Millie (Andy's dog) got most of it. i was so disappointed because although roast isn't super expensive, i did feel like it was a waste of money afterwards.
lowdown: if i decide to make...add more water next time.

Amanda's Crock-pot Lasagna
this was SO GOOD. and so EASY.  I used hamburger meat, because Andy is not a fan of spicy food, and it turned out perfect. I would say, make sure you drain any meat that you use beforehand, because it can tend to be a little greasy if you don't.
lowdown: this will be made again.

Creamy Crock-Pot Spaghetti
I used ground beef instead of turkey and it turned out delicious. I also cut the recipe in half and used a smaller pot. It worked out great but I should have cooked it a shorter amount of time. I wasn't able to make it home at lunch so the noodles were a little soft by the time I got off work, but the cream cheese makes it so perfect and a little different from your typical spaghetti and tomato sauce.
lowdown: will make again, but probably just cook for half the time.

and on the menu for tomorrow...
Crock-Pot Hamburger Soup
stay tuned for a review.

do any of you have Crock-Pot recipes that you would like to share? This "label" has been my most popular and I would love to include different recipes and perspectives. I am thinking about turning this into a weekly link-up. Would y'all be willing to link up with me? Honest answers please!
Oh yes... btw... I am thinking about doing a giveaway the end of the month... if any of you are interested in giving away an item I would love to hear from you! It would also include a swap for the next month!

a little leopard, some flowers, and no words.

i am tired and the words are not coming easily tonight, but i have decided to be more consistent in my posting. i wore this outfit to the baby shower my mama and i threw for my best friend. i couldn't be more excited to meet baby Layton, and from the looks of it he is going to be very spoiled. look for an entire post on the Pinterest inspired shower we threw.

Flats For All

flat shoes are a must where i work. yes, most of them make my legs look super short, but i try to add a bit of pizzazz to my normally un-trendy work outfits and flats have to be able to fit-in.

wandering

my mind wanders continuously these days, from one idea to another. my problem has never been a lack of ideas, its more about finding one that i am truly passionate about and sticking with it. i wouldn't say that i am lazy, i just haven't found "my thing" yet. i don't struggle in the day to day, but it is the bigger picture that i have trouble with. i want to find that one thing that i am passionate about, the one thing that i cannot wait to get up and do each and every day. i want to find one thing that makes me excited, generates more and more ideas, and gives me happiness every time i think about it.
this might sound awful, but i am so jealous of those people that know. the ones that have careers that they love, or love raising their family. i hate the word jealousy. but the truth is, that what i am. i am working to combat that today and now more than ever.

worn with love

jeans: Target//shirt: Kohls//jacket: Mama's// shoes: Toms

this picture taking thing is really helping me, although these were only shot with my iphone. looking at yourself on a camera is completely different from looking in the mirror. you can tell what works on your body and what doesn't.
this past weekend i got to spend a sunday on tybee island. we(my mama, sister, and i) just went for the afternoon. we had a perfect windy walk on the beach and it takes days like that one to put things into perspective. i feel the best when i am on the beach, im not sure if its the calmness of the water, the sunshine, or the sand in my toms but it sure makes me happy. i will compare it to riding horses, thats another one of my calm places. i need one of these in my life stat, and i am in the process of figuring one of them out.
now lets talk about this jacket, it was my mothers. corduroy lined in plaid, and worn in with love. i wore it alot in high school and i am looking forward to working it more into my wardrobe in the future too. yes its a little worn, but i sure love the memories. just knowing it was my mamas makes it that much more special.
do you have any items that you wear even though they might look a little worn in?

So, GOD made a farmer!

this might seem a little typical a day or two after this commercial came out on Super Bowl Sunday, however this post is one that has been in my head for a while. coming from an agriculture background i have never known any different. my papa was a farmer, my daddy a horse trainer and all those around me throughout my life live the agriculture way of life. i grew up in a small South Georgia farming town, went to a school for an Agriculture Business degree, rode on an equestrian team in college and got a scholarship from horse judging. i know work for a feed manufacture and interact every single day with farmers.
i am blessed to know these people. it amazes me that so many growing up do not understand where there food comes from, what there clothes are made of, or the hardworking men and women that create, grow, and take care of these things. these farmers are often looked over and the small family farm has now become almost non-existent.
i was involved in both FFA and 4-H from the beginning of 5th grade and i loved meeting other "ag" kids from across my state and the country. these organizations taught me so much about being a good person, a hard worker, and someone that you can trust. we need more programs like these for kids these days.
And on the 8th day God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker!".
So, God made a farmer!
God said I need somebody to get up before dawn and milk cows and work all day in the fields, milk cows again, eat supper and then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board.
  So, God made a farmer!
I need somebody with strong arms. Strong enough to rustle a calf, yet gentle enough to deliver his own grandchild. Somebody to call hogs, tame cantankerous machinery, come home hungry and have to wait for lunch until his wife is done feeding and visiting with the ladies and telling them to be sure to come back real soon...and mean it. So, God made a farmer!
God said "I need somebody that can shape an ax handle, shoe a horse with a hunk of car tire, make a harness out of hay wire, feed sacks, and shoe scraps. And...who, at planting time and harvest season, will finish his forty hour week by Tuesday noon. Then, pain'n from "tractor back", put in another seventy two hours.
So, God made a farmer!
God had to have somebody willing to ride the ruts at double speed to get the hay in ahead of the rain clouds and yet stop on mid-field and race to help when he sees the first smoke from a neighbor's place.
So, God made a farmer!
God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees, heave bails and yet gentle enough to tame lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink combed pullets...and who will stop his mower for an hour to mend the broken leg of a meadow lark.
So, God made a farmer!
It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight...and not cut corners. Somebody to seed and weed, feed and breed...and rake and disc and plow and plant and tie the fleece and strain the milk. Somebody to replenish the self feeder and then finish a hard days work with a five mile drive to church. Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft strong bonds of sharing, who'd laugh and then sigh...and then respond with smiling eyes, when his son says he wants to spend his life "doing what dad does".
So, God made a farmer!

so yes, this post has been about the farmers. the ones that rise before the sun to get their jobs done, the ones that make it possible for us to have meals on our tables and clothes on our backs, the ones who's families sacrifice time with them because sometimes work must come first, and the ones that pass down those traits to their families so that their legacy may continue.
go thank a farmer today.
