Living on the Wedge

In all honesty whoever invented this glorious shoe was a complete genius.  I just can't go wrong with a good wedge and this spring I am falling head over heels for ones with bold prints, heavy straps, and bright colors. Wedges remind us that shoes can be comfortable and still stylish, that we can run around and still look cute without breaking our necks.
Shoes are the one item that I can usually talk myself into buying pretty easily, they can change an outfits look instantly and I feel like the styles will eventually come back around. And you could dress up a casual outfit with a pair of wedges to give your wardrobe a new perspective.

and just because I love all things corny... here is theme song for the day, just replace EDGE with WEDGE.

Happy Friday Folks!

prizzom

Back in 2005, i went to my senior prom. Gosh, that seems like long ago.

I got to searching these pictures because I am in the process of making my youngest sister's prom dress (go ahead and call me crazy). Anyway, here i am below in all my leopard and lion hair glory. I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it. I was bound and determined to be completely different than anyone else at prom, and lets just say I succeeded. I still love this dress, although I probably would have gone with some different hair and other accessories. I love the print, the fact that its different, and look I even had a high-low hem before it was cool.

Looking back I wish I had accessorized this dress a little differently. I think I would have went with a more bronze tone to all my accessories and added a pop of crazy color with a bright blue clutch. The minimalist gold jewelry and very gold prommy shoes are definitely not things I would pick again.

As for my hair, long curls would have been a better choice and would have covered those hideous straps.  I think my makeup was pretty neutral and I like it that way.

All in all, I still love my prom pick just wished I had the ideas then that I have now.

Spring brings...

a happier me // better clothing, more choices, and less of it // baseball and truck pulls, car races and beer drinking // cookouts and spending more time outside // longer days and more time after work to spend with the ones I love // grilled meals, fresh fruits and veggies // a never ending need to get fit for that itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini // pretty stars and fishing from the back of a pickup truck // outdoor concerts and dancing in the grass // brighter colors and sunnier days // birds chirping and baby animals // birthdays, showers, holidays, and weddings galore // festivals and parades // beach trips and afternoon walks

floral schmoral

This warmer weather is teasing me, and gets me all excited about wearing a smorgasbord of floral prints. Pretty floral dresses, sleeveless tops, and even flirty shorts. Yes, I realize that everyone talks about florals for spring but I just can't help myself. I saw the below looks and just had to have more!
The best part about floral is that in actuality they can be lived in year round.
See that dress?? Add tights, brown wedge boots, and a dark blazer and you have the perfect cool weather ensemble.
Or that blazer? Use it to go over a navy dress with pumps for the fall.
Those shorts? Those could be worn with tights, booties, and a sweater now and just a simple tank and gladiator sandals when the weather warms up.

Flirty Florals

How are you incorporating florals or spring fabrics into your clothing in this changing weather? Which prints are you loving for this upcoming spring season?

a busy weekend and an easier way to get coffee...

Whew! What a busy weekend!
after a l.o.n.g. Saturday morning at work, Andy and i headed north about an hour to put my Valentines day present to good use! he had given me a living social voucher to go horseback riding and it couldn't have been more fun! although i have ridden horses most of my life, I had yet to be able to go along with Andy and this was the perfect way to do so. we rode down in a little valley along a creek and it was beautiful, I had the best time with him and it was super relaxing. Can't wait to do it again! (hint hint, Andy)

After riding for an hour or so we started back home and stopped to get a couple of glass bottle drinks, cream soda for him, RC for me, it was the perfect way to end our "day date." We spent the evening with friends drinking a couple green beers and just visiting.

On Sunday, we got up bright and early (kinda) and headed to Atlanta to be city folks for the day. The Atlanta Auto Show was going on and it was the perfect way for Andy to get some SPP action going on. We looked at cars, found my favorites, and did lots and lots of picture taking for Andy's car "blog". Mr Entrepreneur is quite the social media professional and is much better at tweeting than I. We even got to test drive some cars and my little Fiat was super fun.

By about two we were really hungry, so we found some grub and then took a very long walk around Centennial Park in Atlanta. It was another gorgeous day, and we had the best time just taking it all in.

All in all, I couldn't have had a better or busier weekend, and I am so happy that I have found someone that likes to "go" and stay as busy as I do! Thanks for a great weekend Andy!

and speaking of busy weekends, I am needing lots of coffee today (enter my segway)...

top'o the morning to ya!

it's Friday yall!! i am so ready for this super fun and packed weekend that i wish it was 5 o'clock already. we are going to have a quiet night in tonight to gear up for the next two days. of course, i have to work tomorrow morning, but after that Andy and I are heading north to go horseback riding. Andy got me a Living Social voucher for Valentines Day and we get to use it this weekend! Saturday night we will be celebrating St. Patrick's and a friend's birthday at a lake house and then SPP is hitting a car show in Atlanta on Sunday. needless to say, we will all be worn out by the time Sunday night rolls around but i love being busy so this weekend is gonna be the best!

now on to my outfit for a night out during St. Patrick's day. if we had plans to go out on the town, i would choose something along these lines before. i love the more neutral looks of the clothing, while giving a pop of color in the jewelry. i am not a huge fan of green all over and i feel like for night time this laid back look works a lot better. you still get a pop of color from the blue, and i love the green and gold like before

at the end of the rainbow.

well ladies and gents, okay probably not gents, but ladies, once again i am back. things have been a little crazy around here and i am hoping to get back on a reasonable schedule, but i am not making any promises. my sister has moved in with me and although i am loving it, it has been an adjustment having someone sharing my house with me.

on another note, i have decided that i want to start centering this blog around my love of clothing. i am not the richest fashionista, and i would definitely say that i wear a certain style of clothing, but i love going shopping with others. i love to help others find things they would not normally wear and push them outside of their comfort zone slightly.

in honor of one of the best holiday's that you don't get off of work, i have worked up a daytime look that i think is perfect for a spring day at a parade. this grouping is comfortable yet stylish with just the right amount of green. i love the pop of color in the bright blue studs and the gold coloring in the other accessories. i think green and gold go best together, especially for St. Patrick's Day!

do you have huge celebrations in your town? my irish heritage seems to come out on this holiday and you better bet i will be pinching everyone that isn't wearing green on Sunday. i am hoping to style a more night-time look for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow so be sure to check back!

on a last and super personal note, my very best friend is giving birth to a baby boy today! please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. i couldn't be more excited to be an Aunt Tana. Layton is already so loved and i seriously am so happy for these two. Lacie and Pat, you will be the perfect parents!
